Founded in 1697 during the Genroku era, Yonetsuru Sake Brewery has more than 300 years of brewing history. The brewery once served as an official sake supplier to the Yonezawa Uesugi domain, whose lineage traces back to the renowned warlord Uesugi Kenshin.
Yonetsuru practices sake brewing from the rice field onward. It cultivates sake rice on around 20 hectares of its own fields and brews with locally grown rice. The resulting sake is known for its balance of aroma, flavor, and clean finish, with a direct and refreshing character.
The brewery has received more than 30 gold awards at the Annual Japan Sake Awards and more than 35 top honors at the Tohoku Sake Awards, with over 150 awards across sake competitions. Its sake has also been served on international flights by JAL and ANA.
